If you go to www.100years.tk and click on the 5th District link you can see an example of what happens if the process if followed out completely. The process works wonderfully, actually better than I could have hoped. Now I just need some participation.
Better yet go here first www.100yearspost.tk and watch the video tutorial then do what I said in the first paragraph. Maybe it will help put it all together better. (I know this page could use a little better formatting and I'm working on it)

WIT 577 4/15/10
Just thought I'd share that today was the day that the school begins work on the rain garden. It has been decided that the garden would be named a memorial math garden in honor of a teacher that served in my district for many years and passed away. I got an update email from the faculty about today's efforts and I'm sharing it, but I blacked out the names so that there won't be any issues later. It's nothing special, just a quick note that I thought I could share

WIT 577 4/13/10 I created a demo page... sorta
So what I've done is created a demo page to go along with the rest of my stuff. Here: http://100yearspost.tk look at it. It's a work in progress right now.
I think some of my posterous.com addresses may have been off, so that might answer why my responses have been slow. This a tedious and meticulous process and I'm tired. Lemme know what you think.
Also, the rain garden work for my other project starts on Thursday!
okay...goodnight.

WIT 577 4/12/10 Imma Get the Ball Rolling
Okay, so what I'm gonna do is go ahead and list several things that my chapter has done on the 5th District Posterous page and hopefully if any other districts are thinking about posting but not sure how to do so, then maybe this will help. Also, I haven't put together my video tutorial of how to post (didn't think I'd need it) so maybe I will try and put that together sing Jing.
If I could just get one post, I would consider the preliminary period successful. I asked my chapter secretary, who is also the district secretary, why I haven't received any participation. His response was that it takes a while for people to buy into an idea like this because it seems as though their should be strings attached or some sort of gimmick.
Well, we will see what happens (if anything).

WIT 577 4/4/10 Happy Easter I Guess
Here is what's going on with all of my project-ness stuff.
My information for the "100 Years of Service" deal has gone out. I've extended my trial to another district because I've contacted a member in Chicago and solicited his help. I'm just waiting and anticipating responses. We'll see what happens.
The "Green" project at my school is going okay. The students are continuing to collect all of the recyclable materials possible. Things are getting difficult from the faculty side of the effort because things are becoming a little harder to do. Of course the school receives funds from different places for our recycling efforts but the actual large recycling containers that we have cost a little money on the front end and budget constraints are making the prospect of keeping them less likely. We've gotta find a place to put the recyclable materials and then have them transported to the proper places. It's a serious challenge.

WIT 577 3/23/10 Oh Yeah!
Oh yeah, my other project... I've been forgetting to talk about this one. I said during one class meeting that I joined my school district's effort to be cleaner and help out with their recycling project. The overall project is going well. I had my class participate in the "see who could fill up the most recycle bags by the end of the week" part of the project and... we lost, but it was fun. We also participated in the old and broken cell phone drive. I'll let you know more about how it's going next time. I'm sleepy now... goodnight.
WIT 577 3/23/10
Quick update: Well, I missed the general body meeting, and since I'm on the executive council of my chapter, I'm just gonna slide my project through as if it had gone through the necessary measures (it would've passed anyway).
I've given the letter to some other council members to proofread. Hopefully it will be off to participants by this weekend and I will get some responses or at least some feedback.

WIT 577 3/18/10
If you've been reading this, you've noticed that I messed up some of the dates, so I went back and fixed those.
Here's an update:
After I put together the letter to present my project to my organization, I presented it at an executive council meeting yesterday. Now the plan is to present the letter to everybody else at a general assembly meeting on Sunday. From there (if approved), it will be forwarded to other chapters of the organization in my district only. If not approved, the letter will be revamped. I will likely add some other resources (maybe a jing video or youtube video) to assist with familiarizing others with the process that I'm asking them to carry out. This effort will also be publicizes on the aforementioned platforms (wikis, facebook, myspace, yahoo groups, etc) in hopes of generating some interests.
Getting started is taking longer than I thought... and actully, when discussing this project with my chapter, it was mentioned that I may should seek clearance form the Grand Council (national administration) at this year's national meeting prior to continuing. However, we will just not do that and say we did and see what happens.

WIT 577 3/6/10
I'm back at it! So here's what I'm doing: Firstly, I'm merging the email accounts that will be used for each district's Posterous page into one email account. Then, I plugging that one account into Outlook. This way I won't hafta search all over the place to approve posts the each district's blog board.
I had to create some new email addresses b/c for some reason the one's I created with Aim.com have disappeared.
Also, have created a document (a letter really) that will be circulated to publicize and explain what I'm doing. You can see it here! (it looks better as a word document)
That's about as far as I've gotten. Gimme a few more days and I will have some more information for you.

Okay, soooooooo, couldln't find the email I was talking about that had some semi-formatting details. That means I'm gonna share what I think you need to know.
I have created all of the Posterous.com and email accounts necessary for this endeavor (12 of each). I've also began creation of the "synthesis" website that will act as a portal to each Posterous account. Like I said in the last post, imma take the suggestion of starting small and then expanding my project. What imma do is present the full project to my local chapter and get support in involving only the district in which my local chapter resides for the duration of this class. As that process is being carried out, I'm going to make preparations to present this to the remaining chapters. I've will continue to post progress as I make it. I haven't put out any links yet cuz there is really nothin to see right now.

WIT 577 2/15/2010 (again)
Okay, I think I'm gonna start with just my chapter first and then extend to reach the entire organization. So... I'm am following Waugh's suggestions anyway. So there it is...
WIT 577 2/15/2010
Aight! I'm setting up these Posterous accounts and it is a little piece of hell. If you read a previous post, then you know what I'm attempting. I was advised not to take the project so broad, but I'm still going to reach out to the entire organization knowing that not all will participate. I've got some stuff ready to put together the web/cover page for the project.
Just gimme a second and it will all come together.
Also, I'm gonna go back and reread Susan's email more carefully and format my blog post properly next time.

WIT 577 (2/3/2010)
Hey, I think I got an idea... okay, this is what I'm gonna do! After searching semi-extensively for a way to put this thing together, I've resolved to use a blog format (thanks for the suggestion Glaab!) along with some other stuff.
Aight, follow me on this one: There are twelve districts in the organization (1-13 no 11, long story). I'm going to create a Posterous.com blog (thanks Ashley or Kevin or Jeremy, can't remember who used it last semester) for each district. If you remember, all you have to do to post on Posterous is email your stuff in and...wah-lah, your stuff is up. This eliminates the need to hand out special passwords and stuff. I'm going to specify to those that want to contribute an email and submission format so they can post their stuff. I will moderate all 12 pages, so if anything is inappropriate I can delete it, but no one else can delete things without my consent. I'm also going to create a webpage with links to all 12 Posterous blogs. This way, you can simply go to this webpage and navigate to the blog of your choice.
Yep, I got it all figured out... however, if you would like to make suggestions of ways to better my project, I would love to hear them.
Actully, please comment because I know there have got to be holes in my plan.

WIT 577 (2/2/2010)
Aight, here is what's going on... Since I've made this not only a project for my chapter of my service organization, I've had to adjust some of the particulars. Here's the scope (moderate at best): I'm (planning to) encouraging every member of every chapter of every district of my fraternity to participate in a project called "100 Years of Service." The idea is for every chapter involved to log 100 verifiable service hours, post them online, and share them with the other fraters and the world. I plan to do this via some Web 2.0, digital scrapbooking, extra awesome, free, online service (I just hit a wall). Does anyone know of such a service? The posts will be (hopefully) full of pictures, blurbs, videos, sound bytes, and whatever else you can think of. I'm introducing the element of competition with this project; the prize is nothing more than bragging rights: "We did more community service than you!" This should be a prize within itself (hopefully x2). I would like the scrapbook to be sectioned by chapter and district, but unified by the umbrella of the organization. I hope this is plausible. After 99 hours of service, each chapter will be encouraged to join as many other chapters to participate in a joint effort (all TBA). This will (hopefully x3) culminate around November 2011 which should relatively coincide (is that possible?) with our 100 years celebration.
If that made any sense, please comment with suggestions. (The stopping at 99 hours came from someone in the class, but I can't remember who... so thanks whoever it was!)

WIT 577 (1/30/2010)
Actually, sitting in class as I post this... I've been trying to come up with a notion to use as a project idea and what I came up with is a project that I've been wanting to do for a while. This popped into my head last night as a class project idea: A service organization that I work with (my fraternity) will be celebrating its 100th year of existence November of 2011. My thoughts are to facilitate a project called "100 Years of Service." The idea is to contact as many chapters of the organization to initiate, carry-out, log (pictures, audio, video, etc.), and share at least 100 hours of service initiatives completed between the date of the start of the project and the date of 100th year celebration, creating a hub for these to be presented to the world on the internet (something like a huge digital scrapbook). The culmination of the project would be a mass service initiative to take place in the setting of the international 100th year celebration and a presentation to the international administration to be noted as a part of organization history.
It's just a thought in my head now. There will be more to come as I continue to think.

WIT 577 Electronic Log (...and the journey continues!)

Here is where my electronic log will be located. This is the same blog I've used throughout my "Webit-ing." You can look at previous post to see some of the other stuff I've done in class. Going forward, it will be all about WIT 577, unless I feel the need to share something else. For now, let the journey beg... continue!
