WIT 577 2/16/2010

Okay, soooooooo, couldln't find the email I was talking about that had some semi-formatting details. That means I'm gonna share what I think you need to know.

I have created all of the Posterous.com and email accounts necessary for this endeavor (12 of each). I've also began creation of the "synthesis" website that will act as a portal to each Posterous account. Like I said in the last post, imma take the suggestion of starting small and then expanding my project. What imma do is present the full project to my local chapter and get support in involving only the district in which my local chapter resides for the duration of this class. As that process is being carried out, I'm going to make preparations to present this to the remaining chapters. I've will continue to post progress as I make it. I haven't put out any links yet cuz there is really nothin to see right now.

WIT 577 2/15/2010 (again)

Okay, I think I'm gonna start with just my chapter first and then extend to reach the entire organization. So... I'm am following Waugh's suggestions anyway. So there it is...

WIT 577 2/15/2010

Aight! I'm setting up these Posterous accounts and it is a little piece of hell. If you read a previous post, then you know what I'm attempting. I was advised not to take the project so broad, but I'm still going to reach out to the entire organization knowing that not all will participate. I've got some stuff ready to put together the web/cover page for the project.

Just gimme a second and it will all come together.

Also, I'm gonna go back and reread Susan's email more carefully and format my blog post properly next time.

...back to work...

WIT 577 (2/3/2010)

Hey, I think I got an idea... okay, this is what I'm gonna do! After searching semi-extensively for a way to put this thing together, I've resolved to use a blog format (thanks for the suggestion Glaab!) along with some other stuff.

Aight, follow me on this one: There are twelve districts in the organization (1-13 no 11, long story). I'm going to create a Posterous.com blog (thanks Ashley or Kevin or Jeremy, can't remember who used it last semester) for each district. If you remember, all you have to do to post on Posterous is email your stuff in and...wah-lah, your stuff is up. This eliminates the need to hand out special passwords and stuff. I'm going to specify to those that want to contribute an email and submission format so they can post their stuff. I will moderate all 12 pages, so if anything is inappropriate I can delete it, but no one else can delete things without my consent. I'm also going to create a webpage with links to all 12 Posterous blogs. This way, you can simply go to this webpage and navigate to the blog of your choice.

Yep, I got it all figured out... however, if you would like to make suggestions of ways to better my project, I would love to hear them.

Actully, please comment because I know there have got to be holes in my plan.

WIT 577 (2/2/2010)

Aight, here is what's going on... Since I've made this not only a project for my chapter of my service organization, I've had to adjust some of the particulars. Here's the scope (moderate at best): I'm (planning to) encouraging every member of every chapter of every district of my fraternity to participate in a project called "100 Years of Service." The idea is for every chapter involved to log 100 verifiable service hours, post them online, and share them with the other fraters and the world. I plan to do this via some Web 2.0, digital scrapbooking, extra awesome, free, online service (I just hit a wall). Does anyone know of such a service? The posts will be (hopefully) full of pictures, blurbs, videos, sound bytes, and whatever else you can think of. I'm introducing the element of competition with this project; the prize is nothing more than bragging rights: "We did more community service than you!" This should be a prize within itself (hopefully x2). I would like the scrapbook to be sectioned by chapter and district, but unified by the umbrella of the organization. I hope this is plausible. After 99 hours of service, each chapter will be encouraged to join as many other chapters to participate in a joint effort (all TBA). This will (hopefully x3) culminate around November 2011 which should relatively coincide (is that possible?) with our 100 years celebration.

If that made any sense, please comment with suggestions. (The stopping at 99 hours came from someone in the class, but I can't remember who... so thanks whoever it was!)
